Our annual 3 Day Bus Shop Hop in October has two last minute openings!   Call us if you would like to get in on our Brown County, Indiana Fall Bus Trip.  Cost for this one is $400, double occupancy.  Call for details!

We are now booking for an 8 shop Fall Bus Shop Hop!  We will leave at 6:30 in the morning of the 13th from the LaSalle City Parking lot to the west of the Knights of Columbus building on Gooding/2nd St to begin our journey.  Routing and lodging are being confirmed now, and will be updated in late July right here on this webpage!  We will be visiting:

All inclusive cost of this bus trip is $160, double occupancy.  (Spending money not included....ha ha...)  Your breakfast will be included at the hotel, and there will be morning snacks, lunch, afternoon snacks, and dinner provided by the shops we visit.

Our Annual Wisconsin Quilt Expo Bus Trip is Booking Now!


We will leave downtown LaSalle from the City of LaSalle parking lot at the corner of 2nd St and Gooding St at 8:30AM.  We will arrive at the show around 10:30AM so you can spend the day shopping to your hearts content.  We leave at 4:30PM, with a stop at the Cracker Barrel in Janesville, WI for dinner.  We should arrive back in LaSalle by 7:30-8PM.  $45 covers your transportation and ticket to the show.  Book through our online shop, call us, or stop by the shop.

Quilting in the Valley-2018 Class Schedule

Westalee Ruler Work  Project Class:  April through July, 2018

Participants will be creating the Quilt as You Go Table Topper, using the Westalee Starter and Sampler Sets.  You will end up with a 36” square finished table topper or wall hanging.  You may use all the same fabric, or multiple colors.  The entire quilt requires about 5 1/3” yards of fabric for top and bottom of the quilt.  You will use a small amount of fabric for 1” ‘cover strips’ to put your quilt together once all the pieces are quilted.    Classes on Sunday and Tuesday are the same each month and are from 1-4, please attend one or the other in order to complete your quilt. 

Quilt Sandwiches required for each class are listed below:

July 26th:  (2) 12” by 30” quilt sandwiches, August 23rd:  (1) 36” square quilt sandwich

Aug 12th:  (4) 10" quilt sandwiches, Sept 9th (2) 10" by 30" quilt sandwiches, October 14th (2) 10" by 30" quilt sandwiches, November 11th (1) 30" square quilt sandwich.

Sept 27th:  Feathers, participants must have the feather set to attend this class.  Bring (2) Fat Quarter quilt sandwiches

Oct 25th:  Circles on quilts.  Participants must have one of the Westalee Circles on Quilts sets.  Bring (2) Fat Quarter quilt sandwiches.

Class Cost:  Free if you purchased rulers from us, $15 if you did not.  Limit 6 for this class.

BERNINA Mastery 1:  Second Thursday each month from 10-1 on odd months

For all new BERNINA  530 and below machine owners, and Bernette owners.  Please call to reserve your seat.

BERNINA Mastery 2:  Second Thursday from 10-1 on even months.

BERNINA Embroidery:  The 4th Friday of every month, OR the 4th Saturday of every month from 1-5.

BERNINA Skillbuilders Embroidery with Kimberbell Designs:

This class is also open to non BERNINA embroidery machine owners who are familiar with their machines, but would like to learn more techniques.  We will be using a ‘technique of the month’ workbook from Kimberbell Designs to learn a new embroidery machine process each month:  in the hoop, free standing lace, cutwork, applique, and more!  Learn to get the most out of your embroidery machine!

Class fee:  $20 each month, supplies not included.  Class fee covers the pattern download and printed directions each month.  Please reserve your seat in advance.  We have limited room.

Kid’s Camp:  Mondays, July 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 1-5

Participants will use their own sewing machines and sewing  tools to make a:  pillowcase, mesh tote, and a notebook cover.

Class fee:  $75, including all fabrics needed to make the projects.

Open Sew:  1st and 3rd Thursday of each month between 10-5.

Participants are welcome to bring in UFO’s, start a new project, or just socialize.  Lunch is provided, you may use our irons and ironing boards and cutting tables.

Class fee:  $10 per person.  Please reserve your seat in advance.

Crabapple Hill ‘Girl’s Getaway’:  Sundays, July 22nd, and Aug 19th from 1-5, and Sept 16th

Participants can choose any of the the 5 monthly to start with, and then can either complete all 5 of them and add the finishing pattern to make a really, really cute throw…or…finish off the first one a an adorable wallhanging.

Class Fee:  $45, including your choice of any of the 5 monthly patterns.  Purchase additional patterns as desired.  Fabric and supplies not included.

Modern Quilt Meet Up!:  Fridays,  August 17th, October 26th, December 14th from 6-?

Come join us for this free get together!  We share show and tell, pattern ideas, techniques and just talk about our favorite quilts while having a glass of wine and a couple snacks.  This month is our fourth challenge:  Free motion quilting with your domestic machine!  Do something outside of your comfort zone…..and see what you can create using  your domestic machine.  Any size, any project, it just has to be quilted on your domestic machine.

This is a free meet up, with challenges and prizes each month, show and tell, and sharing!

Mini Wonderful Curves: 

Participants will use the book of the same name, and the Quick Curve Ruler to quickly and easily master curved piecing while making neat, seasonal, small projects.

Bat Moon Rising:  Saturday, October 6th from 1-5

Giving Tree:  Saturday, November 3rd from 1-5

Toni Whitney Raw Edged Applique Animal Wallhanging:  Sundays, June 24th and July 29th from 12-5

Participants may choose any of the Toni Whitney wallhanging patterns:  deer, turtles, cat, fox, otters, horses, raccoons, etc to complete during this class.  Anyone can make one of these art quilts!

Class fee:  $30, supplies not included.

Accuquilt Qube Club:

Participants will use the 6”, 8”, or 9” Accuquilt Qube  of their choice, along with their Accuquilt cutter to create a ‘mystery’ block each month that will result in a lap to queen sized quilt depending on the Qube size used.   12 month club.  Instructor will demonstrate the cutting and construction of the block each month, and participants will purchase a kit with pattern each month to complete at home.   Finishing kit will be available at the conclusion of the 12 month club.

June 16th, July 21st, August 18th, September 15th, October 20th, November 17th, December 15th  from 10-11.

Class Fee:  $10 for kit with pattern, participant must own an Accuquilt and Accuquilt Qube.

Skillbuilders 5.0:  Third Friday of the month from 2-5 beginning May 18th

Participants will learn to create a block using a different piecing technique each month.  The club is a 16 month long class with a large queen/king quilt resulting.  Curved piecing, paper piecing, applique, hexagons, bargello, flanges, yo yos, prairie points, cathedral window, and etc are part of the techniques you will learn.  This class will be using blue and cream batiks each month.

Class fee:  $15 per month, kit included.

Garment Construction 101:  1st Friday of each month from 10-5

We will be rotating between adult and children’s garments each month.

August 3rd:  ‘Adelaide’ by Children’s Corner, available from 6 mos through size 6

September 7th:  ‘Modern Medley’ top and tunic, pattern sizing s through 2x

October 5th:  ‘William and Winnie’ by Children’s Corner, available from sizes 12 mos through 4t

Accuquilt Block on Board Classes: 

Participants will use their own Accuquilt cutter and their own Accuquilt Block on Board die to create the highlighted project.

Monday, September 10th from 5:30-8:30, Blazing Star by Eleanor Burns, using the Go! or Go Big! Accuquilt Cutter

Monday, November 5th from 5:30-8:30, Lemoyne Star, using the Go!, or Go Big! Accuquilt Cutter .

Class fee:  $20, supplies not included.


Lap Throw Frenzy:  Various Saturdays from 11-5

Saturday, July 21st:  Quilter’s Road Trip Lap Throw.  Participants will use the Maywood Studios panel and fabric line to create a fun, quilty camping themed throw.

Class Fee:  $65, kit for top and binding included.

Saturday, August 4th:  Passages lap throw.  Participants will use the ‘Passages’ quilt kit, by the same guy who designed ‘Labyrinth Walk’, to create a beautiful lap throw.

Class Fee:  $90, including kit with fabrics for top and binding.

Saturday, August 18th:  Double Struck Star lap throw.

Class Fee:  $110, includes fabric for top and binding, and pattern.

Beginning Quilting:  Tuesdays, July 24, 31, Aug 7th, and Aug 14th from 1:00-4:00 OR October 16th, 23rd, 30th and Nov 6th from 5:30-8

Participants will use the BQ2 pattern to make a Large Lap quilt.  54” by 72”, using 3 different fabrics.  We will cut, piece, quilt, and bind the lap throw in class.  You will have a completed project to brag about afterwards!

Class fee:  $139.99 for the class covers the pattern, fabrics for the top, binding, and backing and the batting, as well as the class fee.  You supply your machine, thread, pins, needles, and rotary cutter.

Jacqueline de Jonge ‘Daydream’:  2nd Tuesdays for 6 months beginning July 10th from 5:30-8

Participants will use the Jacqueline de Jonge ‘Daydream’ pattern and foundations to create this 66” by 66” paper pieced quilt.  This quilt is a 3 star difficulty rating out of 6 stars.  Great one to start your Be Colourful journey with.

Class fee $85, including pattern and foundations if you purchase your fabrics from us.  $175, including pattern and foundations if you do not purchase the fabrics from us.

Hexie Mini Class:  4th Saturday of each month from 10-1, beginning June 23rd.

Participants will make a small, manageable project using different shapes each month.  Check out our samples!

Class Fee:  Will vary by project,  average $15.00 per class.

Class fees must be paid when registering for class.  Class fees are non refundable unless cancellation notice is given 7 full days prior to class.  (Class fees forfeited may be applied to a future class with management’s prior approval.)  Classroom machines are no longer provided.  Coffee and water are provided.  Refrigeration is available if you bring your own beverages or snacks.
