Grab your BFFs and suitcase and join Lisa and Carol as Quilting In The Valley heads to Vermont and Niagara Falls.
OCT. 2: Leave LaSalle at 7 a.m. and head to Shipshewanna, IN. Enjoy a family-style lunch and a little shopping at Das Essenhaus restaurant, grab a donut at Rise and Roll Bakery, then head to Yoder’s for your quilt shop fix. Leave Shipshewanna at 4 p.m. and head to Maumee, OH with a dinner stop (on your own) and an overnight stay at Home 2 Suites by Hilton.
OCT. 3: Depart hotel at 8 a.m. and head to Mabel and Ethel’s Quilt Shop in Sandusky, OH. Up next — a scenic train tour with box lunch in Cuyahoga Falls National Park. Head to Erie, PA, with a 5-stop food tour for dinner, then an overnight in Northeast Erie, PA at Holiday Inn and Suites.
OCT. 4: Leave Erie, PA at 8 a.m. for a trip to the massive Observation Tower on the American side of Niagara Falls. See a panoramic view of the Horseshoe Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, then spend some time souvenir shopping and grabbing a quick lunch at the local shops at the Visitor Center. Leave Niagara Falls at 2:30 pm for Buffalo, NY, where we’ll enjoy engaging infotainment and a double-decker tour of Buffalo. Dinner on your own along the way to the Hampton Inn in Geneseo, NY, for the night.
OCT. 5: Leave Geneseo at 8 a.m. and head to Material Rewards Quilt Shop in Dansville, NY. After shopping, we’ll head to Corning, NY, to visit the famous Corning Glass Museum, including lunch on the grounds. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for a group glass blowing lesson. We will make our own pumpkins. (Tickets $35 each) Leave museum at 4:30 for the drive to Syracuse, NY, with a stop for supper then head to Rome, NY, to overnight at a Hampton Inn.
Oct. 6: We’ll get an early start — 7 a.m. — as we drive through the Adirondack Mountains to Burlington, VT, and arrive at Shelburne Museum for lunch. We’ll spend the remainder of the day, then gather for dinner (on your own) at the Church Street Market Place. Overnight at the Hampton Inn in Colchester, VT.
OCT 7: Leave the hotel at 8:15 a.m. for a drive throught the heart of Vermont and the Green Mountains. We’ll start with a visit to Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for a factory tour, then head to Cold Hollow cider Mill for a tour, refreshing cider, and lunch. Then it’s on to Montpelier, VT, and Morse Farms Maple Syrup for a tour of the Sugar Barn and a syrup tasting. Then we’ll head to Norwich, VT, for a visit and tour of the world famous King Arthur Flour flagship store. Dinner (on your own) at McGrath’s Irish Pub at the Brogan Inn in Killington, VT, , then on to Clifton Park, VT, for an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn.
OCT: 8: Leave hotel at 8 a.m. and visit the Farmers Museum in Cooperstown, NY, where we’ll be treated to a box lunch. Then head to Rose Hill Mansion in Fayette, NY. Rose Hill is a beautiful mansion in the Greek Revival style built in 1837 on the shores of Lake Seneca. Arrive in Batavia, NY, for dinner on your own and overnight at the Hampton Inn in Buffalo, NY.
Oct. 9: Leave the hotel at 8 a.m. and head to Burch Farm Winery along Lake Erie in Pennsylvania for some farm fresh seasonal produce, gifts, cheese, and wine tasting. Stop for lunch along the way then head to Alpaca of Spring Acres in Zainesville, OH for a farm tour, alpaca petting and a visit to the farm shop. Head to our Hampton Inn in Huber heights, OH with dinner on your own along the way.
Oct. 10: Leave the hotel at 8:30 a.m. to visit the fabulous United States Air Force Museum and gaze at a Stealth Bomber, a Blackbird, the Memphis Belle and lots and lots of other cool historical planes. Grab some lunch at the museum on your own before we leave at 11:30 a.m. and make the final journey back to LaSalle with a quilt shop stop at Back Door Quilts in Greenwood, Ind., and Quilting in the Valley in Champaign, IL. We expect to arrive back in LaSalle at approximately 8:30 p.m.
